Development Manager / Technical Engineering Manager

We’re looking for an exceptional Development Manager to lead engineering execution across multiple fast-moving products and internal systems.
This is not a passive management role.
We want a highly technical operator and engineering leader who can drive execution, enforce high standards, unblock teams quickly, improve development velocity, and build scalable engineering processes that allow the company to move fast without sacrificing quality or security.
You will be responsible for managing developers, coordinating releases, improving engineering operations, enforcing best practices, and helping build a world-class technical organisation.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
Engineering Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of developers across multiple projects and products
  • Create accountability, structure, and strong execution standards across engineering
  • Ensure developers remain unblocked and productive at all times
  • Push projects forward aggressively while maintaining quality standards
  • Run daily engineering coordination and task management processes
  • Review team performance, output quality, and delivery consistency
  • Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, speed, communication, and accountability
  • Identify weaknesses in workflows, processes, or team structure and improve them proactively
  • Help recruit, onboard, and scale the development team over time

Project & Release Management

  • Own engineering execution timelines and release coordination
  • Plan and manage release schedules across multiple products
  • Ensure projects are scoped correctly and delivered on time
  • Coordinate priorities between developers, product stakeholders, QA, and operations
  • Monitor sprint progress and identify risks before they become blockers
  • Keep development moving efficiently without constant supervision from leadership
  • Ensure deployments are smooth, stable, and properly tested before production release
  • Create clear systems for task tracking, delivery management, and release readiness

Technical Leadership

  • Enforce strong coding standards, architecture decisions, and development best practices
  • Ensure high standards around:
    • Code quality
    • Security practices
    • Scalability
    • Maintainability
    • Documentation
    • Infrastructure reliability
  • Conduct code reviews and technical oversight where necessary
  • Help developers solve difficult technical problems
  • Step into the codebase directly when needed to troubleshoot or accelerate execution
  • Identify technical debt early and create plans to reduce it
  • Guide engineering decisions with long-term scalability in mind
  • Ensure engineering systems remain stable as the company grows

Security & Operational Excellence

  • Implement and maintain strong engineering security practices
  • Ensure infrastructure and development workflows follow modern security standards
  • Reduce operational risk through process, tooling, and oversight
  • Create reliable engineering workflows around deployments, environments, and access control
  • Improve observability, monitoring, and operational visibility across systems
  • Ensure engineering work is organised, documented, and recoverable

Technical Experience We Value

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and operational tooling
  • Experience with GitHub workflows, pull request reviews, and engineering collaboration systems
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum workflows and sprint management
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting ability
